Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN) was established in B.S. 2016 (A.D. 1959)by a group of social workers and medical doctors.lt became an association member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) in 1960 and full-fledged member in 1969.

This was established to develop small and happy family in Nepal through family planning and maternal and child health services.FPAN,in consonance with the social system,focused on information and education as a means of advocating a small - family as a norm among the rural masses.

At present FPAN's programs are focused on adolescent sexual and reproductive health, safe abortion, HIV prevention and management, access to sexual and reproductive health information and services to the poor and marginalized people, advocacy on sexual and reproductive health and combating gender based violence and girl trafficking.

Similarly FPAN programs were expanded from three districts in the 1960,15 districts in the 1970 and 42 districts in 2009.

This postage stamp has been brought out to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Year of the establishment of Family Planning Association of Nepal depicting its Logo and Slogan.
