Kayaking :
A Kayak is a small, human powered boat, made nowadays of plastic or fiberglass. The Kayak finds its origins amongst the indigenous people of the Arctic and North primarily for recreational sport and adventure purposes.

The Kayak is fitted for a single person, who is snuggly fit into the boat. A spraydeck, made of waterproof stretchy meterial, fit tightly around the body of the paddler and extends over the cockpit rim, so that little water enters the boat as it travels through rapids, The Kayaker directs the boat with the help of a double bladed paddle, negotiating rapids and maneuvering through obstacles.

Kayaking was introduced in Nepal in the early 1970s by a group of foreign boaters. Nepal has some of the best whitwater in the world, and people travel from far and wide to explore its unique and vast paddling playground.

There are approximately 6100 whitewater rivers in Nepal that are suitable for Kayaking and Rafting. Many of them remain inaccessible due to the country's limited infrastructure.

In both kayaking and rafting rivers are classified according to flow, volume and trajectory, the following scale is used:

Class 1: Flat water; easy float
Class 2: Meduim; clear passages
Class 3: Difficult; strong waves, narrow passages
Class 4: Very difficult; long and boiling rapids
Class 5: Extremely difficult; technical with a high gradient (Big drops) Class 6: Impossible to run, deadly.

Nepal has open 16 rivers for Kayaking and Rafting can be done in all of these rivers.
