FDC Stationary Value : 5.00 Rs Maipokhari is one of the popular religious and tourist area, located in beautiful and attractive district Ham district of eastern Nepal. Mai Pokhari lies in about 18 k.m. northern side of district headquarter. It is extended in 1.8 hector area and has a nine corner image. Maipokhari is rich in biodiversity. It is listed in World Ramshar (wetland) list. In this attractive lake and it's surrounding there we find diverse type of aquatic and terrestrial flora and fauna. Salla, Chhap, Gurans, Chhutro, Aiselu, Nagbeli, Jatamasi are some of the notable flora available there and people also feel pleasure to listen melodious tone of different type of birds like kuku, nauli, kaphal chhari and koile. This area is also denoted as a habitat of Pani Gohoro and 3 or 4 species of butterfly, which are rare in the world. Isimod, WWF and International Conservation define this area as a Hot Spot (rich in biodiversity) and Biological Corrider. This pleasure and attractive lake is also popular for religious destination. It is also worship as a Goddess, there is situated famous religious Ashram (a religious building) ‘Satyadhuni’ including numbers of different Devalaya and Shivalaya (a kind of Hindu temple) in the bank of this lake. This place is taken as a Astha (a religious belief) center of Hindu, Buddhists and Kirant mandhup, Here especially at Baisakh Purwma and the day of Hariboddhiani Ekadasi (a special religious day) held Mela or Jatra where thousands of local and Indian religios persons and tourist do visit annually of this charming lake.
